ODE TO PAIN

All the luck I've never had
Has left me lost, made me mad
All the honest work I've done
Helped me become the lonely one

If it wasn't for Pain
I'd have nothing to feel
If it wasn't for hurt
I'd have nothing that's real
Thank you, dear Pain
I've grown addicted to you
Without you in my life
What else would I do?
I'd wander around
Being young and get old
Static in between
Just fit some mold

All the resting I have tried
Has rocked me restless, and how I've cried
The more you heal the more you die
One more good reason not to try

... But YOU come rushing in and I... feel so alive!

Living with Pain, like with my best friend
Keeps me company, I never want it to end
Keeps me from living without intent
Drives me to do something relevant
I never wander around
Being young and get old
Static in between
Just fit some mold

I've never had to send for you
Or prod you to make my life so blue
You've arrived on your own cues
But haven't I paid my dues?

It just takes a few small things
To see how much just a little brings
When you wake up from your dreams
The night has lost its life it seems

You transport me to a new place
I experience lows of the most profound case
No one understands our relationship
They call it abusive - I call it a trip
I never wander around
Being young and get old
Static in between
Just fit some mold
